Mama V.  36” x 34”

This is my maternal grandmother.  She is wonderful!  At 87 years, she still practices her violin almost daily and performs regularly.  She is up-to-date on most state and national political issues and can name almost any politician followed by her opinion of their positions.  Attending LSU during the depression, she majored in music and then obtained a teaching certificate from Louisiana Tech.  She was an elementary teacher for quite some time, but maintained her musical ability always. Having been a founding member of the Lake Charles Symphony, she played violin for the group over a fifty-year span, with intermittent absences due to family obligations.  She also performed with other symphonies over the years.  This incredible woman still lives alone and drives herself and some of her less fortunate friends where they need to go.  She teaches Sunday school to a group of what she calls “little old ladies” and has a huge number of friends and family members who love her dearly.
